CC
Iness Munyama of Monzwe operational area aged 40 years married and has 8 children. She joined Intanda parenting group in august 2024. She heard about the program through the CBV Kelvin who shared about its benefits after which she joined. Iness registered because of her girl child who is currently aged 3 years namely Kasamba Mukam
bayi. ‘I like the sessions taught under Intanda parenting program
because I have never attended any like these before like these beforewhere we would be taught in details about how to play with children and care for them better. I have learnt to interact better with my child-this was evident by a number of toys made out of clay, among them was big doll molded by her which the child held passionately while the project team interacted with them. My child is able to things like following instructions; for instance such as bringing a chitenge (wrapper when sent or a cup.’‘I have learnt that parents/caregivers must respond with love torwards their children even in their worst or broken moments, lonely moments, frustrated moments because 0 to 3 years is most children need love most as the brain is developing more. Before Intanda I would not care who I left my youngest children with but now I have learnt that it is
important to be mindful about the safety of the child to prevent abuse and accidents. For instance Pye pye will signal to my children that don’t touch fire. Iness is also part of the VSLA which has enabled her to save and borrow money and was able to start up a business of selling talk time and buying maize for repacking in form of mealie meal.
